This page explains how we research, write, and maintain the comparison tables and guides published across MindfulMoney. We publish it because we think the "how" behind a recommendation matters as much as the recommendation itself.
How we choose what to cover
We prioritize topics based on where people are most likely to get tripped up by fine print — fee structures, rate mechanics, eligibility rules, and the gap between an advertised rate and what someone actually receives. Coverage decisions are made by our editorial team based on this criteria, independent of which products or partners are involved.
Writers and reviewers on our editorial team do not have visibility into commission rates paid by individual partners, and are not evaluated on which products they cover favorably. This separation is a deliberate structural choice, not just a stated policy.
How comparison tables are built
Comparison tables are built from publicly available rate, fee, and term information published directly by providers, reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis. Where a table includes an "Editor's Pick" or similar designation, that designation reflects a judgment about overall value — a combination of cost, terms, and accessibility — rather than which option pays the highest referral commission.
How we keep content current
Financial products change frequently — rates move, fee structures shift, and program terms get revised. We review published guides and tables periodically and update them when we become aware of a meaningful change, and each page displays an "Updated" date reflecting the most recent review. That said, we encourage you to confirm current terms directly with any provider before applying, since financial terms can change between our review cycles.
Corrections
If you believe something we've published is inaccurate or out of date, we want to know. Corrections are reviewed promptly, and when a factual error is confirmed, we update the relevant page and note the correction where appropriate. You can flag a correction through our contact page.
What we don't do
We don't accept payment in exchange for a favorable review, a higher ranking, or an "Editor's Pick" designation. We don't allow advertisers to review or approve editorial content about their own products before publication. And we don't publish sponsored content without clear labeling distinguishing it from independent editorial coverage.
- Editorial coverage decisions are made independently of commercial partnerships
- Comparison tables are built from provider-published rates and terms, reviewed on an ongoing basis
- Corrections are reviewed and addressed when a factual error is confirmed
- Sponsored content, where it exists, is always clearly labeled as such
